Pantera was a heavy metal band that emerged from Arlington, Texas, in the 1980s, ultimately becoming one of the most influential and successful bands in the genre. Formed by the Abbott brothers, guitarist Dimebag Darrell and drummer Vinnie Paul, alongside vocalist Phil Anselmo and bassist Rex Brown, Pantera initially started as a glam metal band before evolving into a more aggressive and groove-oriented sound. Their breakthrough came with the release of the album "Cowboys from Hell" in 1990, showcasing a shift towards a heavier and more thrash-influenced style. Pantera's subsequent albums, including "Vulgar Display of Power" and "Far Beyond Driven," solidified their status as pioneers of the groove metal subgenre.
