Aiming to educate the masses, Rage Against The Machine’s debut in 1992 made a massive impact. ‘Killing in the Name’ which addresses police brutality and racism sadly is still a current protest song today. Their activism goes beyond the subject of their music, all profits from their first 3 shows of their latest tour were donated to immigrant rights organizations in the US. During their nine-years before they split, Rage Against the Machine’s helped build the foundation for nu metal with their explosive sound which is a mix of rap, hardcore punk, funk, and metal.
